Michael Jonsson

Mike lives and works in Sacramento, California.  He is married, and has two adult children.  He started practicing law in 1993, and limits his practice solely to family law matters, with a focus on divorce Mediation, Collaborative Practice, and high conflict custody issues.  Mike has been a Mediator since 1997, and a Collaborative Practitioner since 1999.  He has broad experience in dealing with complex custody and financial issues, as well as with culturally diverse individuals and couples, including those born overseas and for whom English is a second language.

Mike is a member of the Family Law Sections of both the California State Bar Association, and Sacramento County Bar Association.  He was the 2004 Chair of the Children's Counsel Section of the Sacramento County Bar Association, and has trained attorneys for Court appointment to represent children in family law matters.  He was the 2005-2006 Chair of the Custody Subcommittee of the Family Law section of the Sacramento County Bar Association, and presently serves on the Sacramento County Family Law Executive Committee.  Mike is a member of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, the Sacramento Collaborative Practice Group, and the Collaborative Divorce Network of Northern California.  He has been a guest lecturer at the U.C. Davis School of Law on collaborative practice, and previously taught family law for paralegals at M.T.I. College in Sacramento.  In addition to being a Mediator and Collaborative professional, he is on the Sacramento Superior Court approved panels for appointment to represent children in family law matters, and for appointment as a Special Master on Custody Issues.  Mike also periodically serves as a Settlement Conference judge in family court.
